CAPT. TRAVIS ROY

I worked as a dockhand at Browns on Harsens Island for 7 years. I have now worked at Freedom Boat Club for the last 4 years. Teaching our members how to find confidence on the water is the most fulfilling feeling ever. This is my 11th year working on Lake St Clair and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

CAPT. KARYN STANO

I have over 25 years of experience, recreational boating on the Great Lakes & have owned & operated multiple boats from small runabouts to larger cruisers. I have been teaching Safe Boating course to the public for over 20 years, through the St. Clair Shores Power Squadron. My goal is to help recreational boaters to have fun, be smart & safe, and to understand the rules of the road, “making Lake St. Clair a safer place to boat, one boater at a time!”

CAPT. ADAM SUAREZ

Lake St Clair has been my home since I was born. I have a love and passion for the water that surpasses all else! Nothing brings me more joy than helping others create everlasting memories with friends and family on the water! I have been a FBC technician and training captain for three seasons now and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I enjoy fishing, hunting, and water sports all around the Great Lakes! I can’t wait to raise your confidence behind the helm and help make your season everything you expect and more! See you on the water!

CAPT. THOMAS MONTE

I was born and raised on Lake St Clair where I now own and operate my own fishing charter business known as Fish Fighter Charters. I have also worked for Freedom Boat Club for 4 years now, working from the operations sides to working on the docks. I look forward to captaining for all the members.

CAPT. NICK ABRAHAM

I love all things boating. From exploring, cruising, fishing, hanging out or training people how to be safe on the water. I have experience on Lake St Clair, The Great Lakes, Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico. My favorite trip on the water was 1000+ miles on the east coast from Jacksonville FL to Washington D.C. running a boat powered on bio-fuel.

CAPT. Joe Bowen

100 Ton – Near Coastal licensed USCG Captain. I am retired from sales at ABB Robotics and now teach sailing, power boat safety and operations on Lake St. Clair in the summer and Florida in the winter. I have been around boats most of my life and still race on a 30’ Catalina sailboat. I am married with 4 kids.

CAPT. Karin Schroeder

I grew up boating with my parents. We would go to Georgian Bay Canada for a couple months every summer and tie up to the rocky wilderness. My father liked to explore all the remote locations there.
When I got married, we owned a 21’ Dozie and several other boats. My favorite thing to do on the water is anchor out with my family as we are a boating family from generations back.

CAPT. Paul Arnone

US Navy Veteran and 100-ton Master Seaman with 20+ years’ experience working on the water all over the world and 15 years’ experience instructing. Sailing, scuba diving or just floating with friends are some of the things I enjoy to do on the water.

CAPT. Adam ABRAHAM

I am in my third year with Freedom Boat Club. I enjoy venturing out on Lake St. Clair and exploring all the different areas and wonders of the Lake, whether it is a family day in the bay, a quiet cruise up the Clinton River or docking at Walter & Mary Burke Park to explore Downtown New Baltimore, where I am the full-time Parks & Recreation Director for the City. Some of my favorite work with the club comes with the Hazard Mitigation Team, helping protect Michigan’s greatest asset and making the water safer for everyone to enjoy.

CAPT. Tim Babel

I love everything about boating and the water from working on them to keep them running to stopping at all the restaurants on the water favorite is ..on the rocks..to spending the day anchored at the swim holes with friends and family ,and taking the trips up to port huron from anchor bay.

Dave Bentley

I’ve been an avid recreational boater and boat owner for many years and love being around, or on the water. As a “snowbird”, my wife and I spend the winter months in Florida, and in Michigan from late spring through fall. I’m very fortunate to have access to boating year-round and being on the Freedom Boat Club teams in both Florida and Michigan. I’m a firm believer in safe boating and providing proper training for members and boat operators. I enjoy on water captain events on Lake St. Clair, captaining small private vessel charters in Florida, and just being around people where I can help create memorable boating experiences for them.
